The availability of vast amounts of cheap storage has led to a situation in which more information exists than we can process effectively. Summarization techniques enable users to digest more quickly large amounts of textual information, for example the search results from a web search engine.The aim of this project is to develop an extractive text summarization system, and to examine how such a system might personalize its output to the level of knowledge of its user.
This work was done as a final-year project for an MEng Degree in Computing. It was recognised as a distinguished project.
